JAMMU, Oct 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir unit, has deputed seven senior party leaders, including Arshad Bhat, for election-related activities in Ladakh, signalling its focus on strengthening organisational coordination and political outreach in the Union Territory ahead of the electoral exercise.
According to a list issued by the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, the leaders selected for the assignment include senior office-bearers, former representatives of local bodies and a member of the party’s national executive. The list specifies their names, designations and contact details for coordination purposes.
The seven leaders named in the list are Gopal Mahajan, Anwar Khan, Rashpal Verma, Colonel Mahan Singh, N.D. Tirpathi, Engineer Ajaiz Hussain and Arshad Bhat.
Gopal Mahajan and Anwar Khan, both State General Secretaries of the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, figure among the leaders deputed for the assignment. Rashpal Verma, who serves as a State Vice President, has also been included in the list.
Colonel Mahan Singh, former Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), Kathua, and N.D. Tirpathi, identified in the document as a former DDC member, are the other leaders with experience in local governance.
The list also includes Engineer Ajaiz Hussain, a member of the BJP’s National Executive, and Arshad Bhat, State General Secretary of the party’s Kisan Morcha.
A special note in the document states that Ajaiz Hussain and Arshad Bhat belong to the Shia Muslim community. Their inclusion brings leaders from the community into the party’s deputation for Ladakh, where community representation and local outreach are important aspects of political engagement.
The deputation brings together leaders holding different organisational responsibilities, including state-level office-bearers, a national executive member and individuals with experience in district-level local governance. Their collective involvement is expected to support the party’s organisational activities and coordination in Ladakh.
The document bears the signature of Baldev Singh Billawaria and the seal of the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit. However, it does not specify the individual responsibilities assigned to the seven leaders, the duration of their deployment or the precise election-related activities they will undertake.
The announcement comes at a time when political parties are preparing their organisational strategies for electoral contests in Ladakh. The selection of senior functionaries from Jammu and Kashmir indicates an effort by the BJP’s regional organisation to deploy experienced party personnel for work in the neighbouring Union Territory.
Further details regarding the leaders’ specific assignments and the schedule of their activities were not mentioned in the document.
