SRINAGAR, Aug 14: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of the 79th Independence Day, urging collective resolve to uphold the sacrifices of martyrs and work towards a prosperous, peaceful, and terror-free Union Territory.
In his message, the LG paid heartfelt tributes to the freedom fighters, founding fathers of the nation, and all martyrs whose sacrifices, he said, “will forever inspire generations.” Recalling the civilian victims of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Sinha said their memory remains etched in the hearts of the people, vowing to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism.
Expressing grief over the recent cloudburst in Chashoti, Kishtwar, the LG conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and assured that all necessary assistance is being provided through a “Whole of Government Approach.”
Sinha lauded the armed forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and Jammu and Kashmir Police for their unwavering service, highlighting the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’ against Pakistan-backed terrorism. “India has drawn a new red line. Any act of terror will be considered an act of war and will get a fitting response,” he asserted.
Extending felicitations to farmers, workers, professionals, scientists, youth, and “Nari Shakti” for their contribution to socio-economic progress, the LG said the Tiranga Yatra and Har Ghar Tiranga campaigns have become symbols of unity and patriotic fervor across the UT.
Reflecting on the developmental strides of the past five years, Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir has achieved unprecedented growth—connecting Kashmir to India’s rail network, deepening industrial roots, and improving the ease of living for urban and rural citizens alike. He stressed that women, youth, and farmers have been empowered, democracy strengthened, and the UT transformed into a just and inclusive society.
Quoting Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of an India where “the poorest of the poor feel that this country belongs to them,” the LG said his administration has worked to bring this dream to life in Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon citizens to reaffirm their commitment to building a Viksit Bharat and to contribute to the nation’s growth “shoulder to shoulder” with one identity—Indian.
“Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!” LG Sinha concluded, marking the occasion with a call for unity, resilience, and nation-building.
