IGP Kashmir vows intensified crackdown on drugs, urges youths to stay away from it extends Baisakhi greetings

<span;>Srinagar, Apr 14: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police will scale up its anti-drug operations in a “mission mode,” warning of swift and strict action against those involved in narcotics trade.
<span;>Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar, the IGP said the police are determined to dismantle drug networks and will adopt a more aggressive approach in the coming days. He asserted that law enforcement agencies will ensure that all those engaged in drug peddling, smuggling, and trafficking are brought under the ambit of law without delay.
<span;>“Our focus is to safeguard society, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of drug abuse. The campaign will be intensified further, and strict legal action will follow against anyone found involved,” he said.
<span;>Emphasising the role of young people, Birdi urged them to stay away from drugs and contribute positively to society. “Youth are the backbone of our future. They must remain disciplined and conscious of the dangers of substance abuse,” he added.
<span;>On the occasion of Baisakhi, the IGP also extended greetings to the Sikh community. He said he visited a gurdwara following an invitation from its management and paid obeisance on the auspicious day, which marks the foundation of the Khalsa Panth.
<span;>Describing the festival as spiritually significant, he conveyed his wishes for peace, prosperity, and communal harmony across Jammu and Kashmir.
