SRINAGAR, June 3: Authorities on Tuesday dismissed reports that visitors were barred from entering Dachigam National Park ahead of a National Conference Legislature Party meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying no restrictions had been imposed on tourists and the park remained open as per routine procedure.
The clarification came after reports claimed that scores of tourists were denied entry to the national park due to the high-profile political meeting. Officials termed the reports “baseless” and said visitors were being allowed entry in accordance with standard guidelines.
“It is clarified that entry for all visitors to Dachigam National Park remains completely open as per the usual procedure. No restrictions have been imposed by the government regarding entry to the park for today, June 3,” an official statement said.
Authorities also urged the public not to pay heed to unverified reports and advised visitors to follow normal protocols while visiting the park.
The National Conference Legislature Party meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was held at Dachigam on Tuesday amid heightened political activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
