Bandipora, June 25: Security forces on Thursday carried out a large-scale mock drill in Bandipora district to assess preparedness and strengthen response mechanisms ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to commence on July 3.
The exercise involved coordinated participation from multiple security agencies and focused on testing emergency response, inter-agency coordination and operational readiness in the event of any security-related incident. Officials said the drill was aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage for thousands of devotees expected to travel through Jammu and Kashmir during the Yatra.
Authorities said such exercises are being conducted across various districts as part of a broader security plan for the pilgrimage. The mock drill in Bandipora simulated different emergency scenarios and allowed personnel to evaluate their preparedness, communication systems and response capabilities.
The Amarnath Yatra is set to begin on July 3 amid heightened security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir, with authorities undertaking extensive measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
