Ganderbal, July 31: At least nine persons, including a 10-year-old boy, were injured in three separate incidents reported from different parts of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, officials said.
Five persons sustained injuries after a Xylo vehicle (JK10-5974) lost control and crashed into an electric pole near Hayan Bridge in the Kangan area.
Officials identified the injured as driver Ashgar Ali (27) of Kargil, Hassan Askri, Junaid Iqbal, Liyaqat Ali, and 10-year-old Mohd Danish, all residents of Leh.
The injured were rescued by locals and shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan. After receiving initial treatment, all five were referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised medical care due to the nature of their injuries.
In another incident, a tipper (JK13-5132) overturned in the Prang Gagarpati area after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
The injured driver was rescued by locals and emergency responders before being shifted to a nearby hospital. Officials said his condition is stable.
Meanwhile, three persons suffered burn injuries after a gas cylinder leak inside a hut in the Gund area.
The injured were identified as Abdul Hameed Wani (37), Manzoor Ahmad Ganie (40), and Shahri Yaar Majeed (40), all residents of Wakura village.
They were provided first aid at SDH Kangan and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
Police have registered the cases and initiated investigations into the road accidents, while the circumstances surrounding the gas cylinder leak are also being examined by the concerned authorities.
