GANDERBAL, AUGUST 24: The Traffic Police have taken action against alleged dangerous car stunts on the newly constructed GCET-Manasbal Road in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, following concerns raised over reckless driving on the busy stretch.
The incident reportedly involved a vehicle being driven in a manner that posed a potential threat to other motorists, pedestrians and commuters using the newly developed road.
Acting swiftly, DySP Traffic Gulzar Ahmad seized the vehicle and initiated action against the driver.
The driver was counselled regarding the dangers of stunt driving and reckless manoeuvring on public roads.
The driver’s parents were also called by the Traffic Police and counselled about the serious risks associated with such behaviour and the need to ensure responsible driving.
The action has been welcomed by local residents, who said that newly constructed roads should not become places for dangerous driving or stunt performances.
Residents urged the Traffic Department to intensify checking on the GCET-Manasbal Road and take firm action against motorists found speeding, performing stunts or violating traffic rules.
They said reckless driving can lead to serious accidents and put the lives of innocent road users at risk.
The incident has also prompted renewed calls for greater road-safety awareness among young drivers. Locals appealed to motorists to follow traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds and use the newly constructed road responsibly.
Traffic authorities have reiterated the importance of responsible driving and warned motorists against engaging in dangerous manoeuvres that could endanger public safety.
With increasing traffic movement along the stretch, residents said sustained enforcement and awareness measures are essential to prevent accidents and ensure safer roads for all.
