Suvaid, Abbas, Aleena among gold winners; Zaheeb, Essa, Aiman figure among silver medallists
Srinagar, Aug 24: Indoor Taekwondo Academy put up a strong show at the Chenab Open Taekwondo Championship, clinching the 2nd runner-up trophy after its athletes bagged 17 medals, including eight gold, four silver and five bronze.
The gold medal winners included Suvaid Ahmad, Abbas Khursheed, Aleena Nisar, Hafida Rafiq, Ajiya Nasir, Aayat Jan, Mehreen Jan, Serrat Ayub and Zain Nazir.
Zaheeb Javaid Malik, Essa Bin Sajid, Aiman Bashir and Suvaid Ahmad secured silver medals, while Mohammed Musineen, Mohammed Eesa Bhat, Aftab Malik, Zunaira Fatimah and Aleena Nisar won bronze medals in their respective events.
As per the details available, in the Poomsae event, Suvaid Ahmad and Aiman Bashir secured silver medals, while Aleena Nisar won bronze.
The academy team was led by international Taekwondo player and coach Zain Nazir, who is currently coaching at the Taekwondo Centre, Gindun Stadium, Rajbagh.
The athletes competed under his guidance, helping the academy secure the 2nd runner-up trophy at the championship.
Coach Zain Nazir and the entire Srinagar Indoor Taekwondo team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Master Atul Pangotra (Chief Coach, J&K Taekwondo) from Jammu. The team highlighted that Master Atul Pangotra’s guidance, mentorship, and constant support have been instrumental in providing athletes with crucial exposure and platforms across District, State, National, and International levels.
The team also extended sincere thanks to the District Doda Taekwondo Association and the Jammu & Kashmir Taekwondo Association for their immense support and seamless organization of the championship.
