GANDERBAL, AUGUST 24: A two-day search operation in Nallah Sindh ended in tragedy on Monday after the body of a nine-year-old boy, who had reportedly fallen into the water channel at Chek Duderhama, was recovered, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Mohsin Mukhtar, son of Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, a resident of Bamloora in Ganderbal district.
According to officials, Mohsin reportedly fell into Nallah Sindh on Sunday. Soon after the incident, police and rescue teams launched a search operation to trace the missing child.
The operation continued for the second consecutive day on Monday under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Dr Urfaan and SHO Ganderbal Waseem Gull.
Rescue personnel conducted extensive searches along the water channel and adjoining areas before locating and recovering the boy’s body.
Following the completion of necessary legal and medical formalities, the body was handed over to the family, officials said.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by bathing and playing near fast-flowing water bodies, particularly for children.
