Srinagar, September 1: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, IPS, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
The meeting took place shortly after Kumar assumed charge as the new IGP of Kashmir following his recent appointment to the key post.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister enquired about the prevailing security and law-and-order situation in the Kashmir Valley, according to reports.
Omar Abdullah also extended his best wishes to Sujit Kumar for a successful and effective tenure.
Kumar recently took over as IGP Kashmir, succeeding V K Birdi, who has proceeded on central deputation.
The IGP Kashmir oversees policing and security-related matters across the Valley and coordinates with the civil administration and other security agencies on law-and-order and security issues.
The meeting marked Kumar’s first interaction with the Chief Minister following his assumption of charge as head of the Kashmir Zone.
