Leh, October 23: Residents and other stakeholders have been given until November 2 to submit suggestions and objections to the proposed constituency boundaries for the newly established Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Sham.
The State Election Commission of Ladakh has released the draft delimitation proposal, inviting public participation before the constituency boundaries are finalised.
The exercise is being carried out under the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (Election) Rules, 2026, which provide for the division of council areas into single-member territorial constituencies.
The proposed boundaries are to be examined in accordance with factors including geographical contiguity, compactness of areas, existing panchayat boundaries, comparability of elector populations and seasonal inaccessibility.
The Commission has asked the public to submit their feedback by November 2, 2026, as part of the process to finalise the delimitation proposals.
The move follows the recent expansion of the hill council framework in Ladakh, with new councils planned across the region’s eight districts.
