India to continue with policy of zero tolerance against terrorism: Amit Shah

Date:

New Delhi : Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said India would continue with its policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism and it was capable of thwarting any threat to India’s internal security.

This comes a day after the Jammu and Kashmir administration lifted curbs on all postpaid mobile services in Kashmir, more than 70 days after the imposition of a communication clampdown in the state which has been considered a hotbed of militancy.

Speaking at the 35th raising day of the National Security Guard (NSG) – which is part of the paramilitary force under the Union home ministry, Shah said “Terrorism is a curse to any country. Our country has been dealing with this for a very long time, unlike any other country in the world.Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi we have zero tolerance against terrorism. And the country is safe against any terror attack now.”

Shah said “by removing Article 370, PM Modi has strived to free Kashmir of terrorism and making India secure and after this we will be able to bring in a new era of peace in Kashmir”.

He added that while NSG has been trained for counter-terrorist and counter-hijack operation, the force had, since 2014, also been given “new technology like – fire power and counter drone capabilities”.
