Anantnag 12 May 2020 : Covid_19 has effected the whole world, numbers of positive cases increasing day by day all over the world and so in J&k. Lock down continues and it effects the lives of people and especially of those poor families whose lives was totally dependent on its daily labour work but due to lock down these families can’t get any work to feed their families.
The sadest thing is that when the administration of j&k has given some relief to its poor families by given them free ration for three months which comes under the category of BPL. Situation is like that some poor families can’t get free three months ration from the department because they are having APL ration cards despite being in BPL category.
Shabir Ahmad Batana S/o Lal Din Batana, Bashir Ahmad Batana S/o Lal Din Batana, Ganie Batana S/o Mohd Qasim Batana ( head of families) all these families are residents of Mathindoo Gawran Tehsil Larnoo (Anantnag). These families when narrated their sufferings to our correspondent ishfaq wagay said that we are those families who don’t have any source of income than working daily, we are poor, we are not govt employees,Our situation due to lock down become more miserable “.
The APL ration cards to these poor families has been issued in the year 2015.The concerned families said that from so many years we request higher authorities to look into this matter as we are from Below Poverty Line families .we request them so many times but in words only they make sure justice will be given to us but on ground level nothing happened.
Bashir Ahmad Batana is one of the head of effected family who is not physically well because he is having stitches in his leg. He said “how can I effort to buy food (ration) from APL ration card, I need money for my medicines also it is very unfortunate and difficult for me to feed my family”.
The concerned families also make allegation that some families are in good source and they are benefited by BPL and AAY ration cards. They make appeal to authorities to investigate in this matter.
Authorities should pay heed to this issue . This will be the case not only in this village but also in other villages. Those who are beneficiaries of BPL, AAY ration card categories should be properly investigated whether they belong to these categories or not. Those who will be found guilty should be punished according to law.
They request concerned Department,DC Anantnag, Tehsildar Larnoo to look into this matter as soon as possible.
