Wind and hailstorm wreaks havoc in parts of Shopian

Srinagar, Sep 25, : A strong wind and hailstorm uprooted trees and caused damage to orchards and fresh fruits in Shadab Karewa of South Kashmir’s Shopian distirct on Friday evening.
Locals told that fresh fruits and standing crops were damaged and a number of tress was uprooted after windstorm struck the area.
Following the wind and hailstorm, power supply was also snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.
They said that strong winds also caused damage to many residential houses.
Windstorm also caused damage to some shops in Charar-e-Sharif area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Meanwhile IMD J&K and Ladakh in a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch said, A feeble Western Disturbance is approaching on 26 September, possibility of very light rain in plains and light snow in higher reaches at isolated to scattered places during late night of 26 September.
