Lt Governor condemns despicable militant attack on CRPF personnel in Pampore

Srinagar, Oct 5 : Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed while three others were injured after militants attacked forces party at Kandizal near Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that motor-cycle borne emerged on bypass and resorted to indiscriminate firing on CRPF.
In the attack five CRPF troopers sustained bullet injuries. They were evacuated to 92 Base Army Hospital Srinagar where two among them succumbed to their injuries official added.
CRPF Spokesperson, Junaid Ahmed told Kashmir Despatch over the phone that two CRPR men who identified as Constable Shailendra Singh and Driver Dhirendra Tripathi from 110 Battalion were killed, while three others whom he identified as Head Constable Mukud Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Gorakh Nath and Constable D. Kipgen are undergoing treatment.
A police officer informed this newspaper that a joint search operation which was launched near Kandizal bridge area of Pampore after militants attacked was called off as militants managed to escape from the area.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range, said that the attack on CPRF men was carried out by two-bike borne Lashkar-e-Toiba militants who have been identified and hunt to “neutralize them” has been started.
He said that the attackers have been identified as Saifullah, a Pakistani militant and another one is a local. “Hunt is on to track them down and I am hopeful they will be neutralized soon,” the IGP said.
He said that militants find it easy to target security forces on the highway. “Highway is a busy place where hundreds of civilian vehicles pass every day. If we retaliate and fire indiscriminately too, there will be civilian causality,” the IGP said, adding that “the attackers managed to flee from the spot.”
Meanwhile,Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha condemned the despicable militant attack on Central Reserve Police Force’s personnel in Jammu Kashmir’s Pampore on Monday and promised that the sacrifice of the security personnel will not go in vain.
In his message, the Lt Governor said, ‘the sacrifices of our CRPF personnel will not go in vain. The government is determined and committed to foil the design of those who want to disrupt peace and derail the development of Jammu and Kashmir through such a militant attack. I assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir and family members of our brave security personnel that we will punish the perpetrators of such terror attacks’.
The Lt Governor prayed for peace to the killed personnel and strength to their family members. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of injured .
