BARAMULLA: The Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Officers Association have demands redress of pending issues.
As per the reports, a meeting of apex body of All J&K Revenue Officers Association was recently conducted which was presided over by President AJKROA, Sheikh Tariq. Problems and issues faced by Revenue Officers were discussed in detail.
Its was deliberated that although maintenance of land records is the prime responsibility of Revenue officers which include implementation of land reform laws, settlement operations and preparation of records of rights, removal of encroachments from state and Kahcharai lands, settling land disputes among people, issuance of Revenue extracts and attestation of mutations.
“But in addition to these routine responsibilities Revenue Officers act as pivotal points for acquisition of land by Government Departments for all developmental projects. Besides this other wide ranging tasks like conducting of census and surveys for relief related operations and providing relief and rehabilitation measures in floods and earthquakes, conduct of various elections, liasoning of operations between various departments, tackling law and order problems, attending and conveying of day to day grievances of common populace to concerned departments”, one of the official said.
He added that during pandemic entire revenue fraternity worked day in and day out night with other Covid warriors like Police and Health departments for contact tracing, implementing Covid-19 protocols and SOPs and degnified burials and cremations. In line of Covid duty some Revenue Officers lost their lives.
Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars act as verification officers for vital issues and discharge their duties as Executive Magistrates. Considering the kalediscope of responslities assigned to Revenue Officers AJKROA feels that Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars are lacking a recognition for services which they are rendering to general public. While other departments are filling their vacant positions in stop gap arrangements by assigning charges to experienced Officers but in Revenue department positions are vacant and additional charges are being assigned to already overburdened Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars.
Considering the multi pronged and multi faceted role of Revenue Officers in administration it is humbly requested to consider the long pending grievances of Pay Anamoly of Naib Tehsildars and Promotions of officers on due time. Resolving of grievances of Revenue Officers will act as morale booster and will infuse an energy among them to work for public welfare with vigour. It becomes more so important when digitization of Revenue records is being conducted and department badly needs experienced officers for this operation.
It is humbly hoped that LG, Advisor to LG Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar and Principal Secretary to Government Revenue Department Mr.Shaleen Kabra will give a patient attention towards the long pending problems of Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars.
