The order passed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar in the mysterious death case of a young boy Zahid Amin Baba whose body was found in a car under suspicious circumstances near Gangbug Srinagar over a fortnight ago is a welcome intervention from the judiciary.
The news about the sudden death of Zahid had sent chills down the spine of the entire population in Rawalpora as the deceased boy had recently passed his 12th standard and had just returned from Jammu after spending his vacations in the winter capital.
While the police took cognizance of the matter but the investigations were not satisfactory as per the parents of the deceased which resulted in the latest order passed by the court.
Represented by senior and well known lawyers like Mohammad Abdullah Pandit and Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, father of the deceased had pleaded before the court of CJM to get the case investigated thoroughly so that the matter is taken to its logical conclusion.
Since the SSP Srinagar has now been asked to constitute a special investigation team to probe the matter and submit status report on the investigations on fortnightly basis, it is expected that the police will reach upto the bottom of the matter and solve this ‘murder mystery’ which has raised big question marks on the morality of our society.
While a stern action warranted under law against the guilty can prove an effective deterrent to prevent such similar incidents in future, the parents cannot be absolved from their responsibilities to mend the behavior of their children.
