Just in March 2021, it appeared that Covid-19 had lost its battle with the humanity and everyone became complacent as if this dreaded virus was vanquished. While it takes millions of years to evolve for other living beings, in case evolution exists, the virus is so unique that it can mutate and upgrade itself within a week’s time. But we were unaware with the natural behavior of the viruses due to which we are facing a much fatal and excruciating second wave now. There are double mutant strains already found in Jammu and Kashmir now which must sound alarms everywhere. The question which must haunt our mind is that are we ready to face this second wave? Well the answer to that question lies in inspecting the case of New Delhi and Maharashtra, the twin metropolitans that were supposed to have superior medical facilities but today are facing the brunt of pandemic. We must prepare for the worst but in the meantime we still have time to manage our affair and if apposite precautionary measures are taken timely then much of its wrath can be averted.
The key lies in following SOP’s strictly, go for inoculation and avoid stepping out of homes unnecessarily otherwise be ready to face the nature’s fury.
Meanwhile, the government needs to augment healthcare infrastructure especially make oxygen supply abundantly available in hospitals so as to face any kind of eventuality.
The second wave of COVID-19 is totally manageable only if we pledge not to take its effect easily.
