‘Appeals people to stay indoors’

The female Sopore councilor and philanthropist Masrat Kar Friday asked people to stay indoors as the first death due Black Fungus was recorded from Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu.
The incident was confirmed by Dr Shashi Sudan, Principal GMC Jammu.
A 40-year-old patient infected with Mucormycosis – Black Fungus – having recently “recuperated” of COVID-19 infection, died at Government Medical College Jammu, making it the first fatality of its type in J&K.
Masrat Kar advised people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and people of Sopore in particular to remain indoors as this deadly virus is taking new shapes to affect the health of humans.
“The best option to protect ourselves right now from this deadly virus is stay indoors. Being at home not only protects you and your family but others also. We have to tackle this deadly disease collectively. Together we can win this war and defeat the deadly virus,” Masrat added.
She said people should avoid unnecessary visits to marketplaces and avoid gatherings.
The councilor said as this wave of COVID-19 virus is affecting the young generation, parents should be more careful and follow SOPs laid by the health department.
“The administration should also take necessary steps to reach to every nook and corner to inform people about the deadly virus besides taking care of their needs and demands. Eatables and basic necessities should be delivered to their homes so that there is no rush in markets and shops,” she added.
Masrat also appealed to Mohalla Committees, well off people of the society to help the needy and poor of the society in these tough times.
