Provide Covid vaccines to States on war footing, ensure free vaccination of all: Congress tells Centre

Date:

Srinagar June 2 : The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Wednesday strongly urged the Centre to provide Covid vaccines to States and ensure free vaccination of all age groups, on a war footing.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, JKPCC also said that It was the responsibility of the Centre to purchase and provide vaccines, without any further loss of time to arrest the ugliest situation confronting States due to the superspreading of the fatal virus.

JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir while reacting to the shortage of vaccines has said Congress Party feels highly concerned over the way the Centre was dealing with the vaccination programme, as the further delay in the process would definitely invite more trouble besides putting people at greater risk, which was the source behind the fear in the minds of people and asked it (Centre) to come clean on the vaccination programme.

Mir also slammed the Centre for failing to ensure timely vaccination even after witnessing thousands of deaths due to the fatal virus.

There was a strong feeling among the common people that the Centre was not able to make vaccines available for them and was just making tall claims on this count, as a result, they(People) were living in fear, which has to be addressed by ensuring the purchase of vaccines in a time-bound manner, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said and demanded free vaccination of all age groups, without any further loss of time.

JKPCC President said It was the only vaccination that could help in containing the third wave, which was at the doorsteps, as reported by the experts and laid emphasis on purchasing vaccines before it was too late to deal with the third wave of the coronavirus.

The vaccination of all age groups must be initiated without putting blame or burden on States, who were already witnessing the worst due to the fatal disease, Mir added and sought urgent measures to ensure free vaccination of all age groups across the country, JKPCC President told Centre.
