Budgam, 01September: Police on Wednesday facilitated the winners of Kashmir Premiere League in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, the police said that in order to boost the morale of the players and to encourage sports activities among the youth, Police in Budgam today felicitated the cricket team (Budgam Braves) for winning the Kashmir Premier League 2021 (Kashmir based cricket tournament) by organizing an event for appreciation for players at District Police Lines Budgam.
SSP Budgam, Tahir Saleem-JKPS while speaking on the occasion congratulated the winners for making the feat and hoped that they would inspire other youth also in engaging them in sports activities. He also stated that the sports play an important role in the overall personality development of an individual and is important for channelization of youth energy to keep them away from negative forces. Appreciating their role, the players were felicitated with appreciation certificates presented by SSP Budgam. He also emphasised on youth to take advantage of sports events organised by Budgam Police on a regular basis, they said.
The event was also attended by Dy.SP DAR DPL Budgam and other police officers, they said.
Pertinently, the Kashmir Premier League 2021 was organised by Army (15th core Srinagar) from 28th July 2021 to 29th August 2021 which was played in two phases in which total of 196 teams from across the valley participated. Out of 196 teams only 10 teams from 10 districts made it to the second phase of the League. The final of the League was played between Budgam Braves and Shahi Shopian on 29th August 2021 where Budgam Braves emerged as winners by defeating Shahi Shopian, reads the statement.
