Our fruit market has suffered alot since past one month due to illegal sale of Iranian apple: Mudasir Ahmad

Baramulla: President Fruit Buyers Union Sopore, Mudasir Ahmad expressed his dismay over illegal sale of Iranian apple in Indian markets, affecting Kashmir’s fruit market.
According to Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, Mudasir said that, “Our fruit market has suffered alot since past one month due to illegal sale of Iranian apple that comes through Wagah border in the name of Afghanistan.”
He said that Iranian apple is being sold without tax at Rs. 40 per Kg which buyers are buying easily.
“Kashmir’s grower, dealer, buyer and seller’s apple gets ready at the cost of Rs. 60 per kg, since our apples are sold at very less price because if illegal sale of apples,” Mudasir said.
He further said that they have requested the government multiple times, and are again requesting the government to save this industry.
“This industry is already being suffering from past couple of years due to uncertain situation in Valley as well as because of the bank. The illegal sale of Iranian apple will cause disaster to our fruit industry in Kashmir,” he said.
He said that their dealer, buyer, seller, grower suffers at least two lakhs rupees loss per truck, and if this illegal sale won’t be stopped, this will damage the fruit industry in the Valley.
