Sopore : The municipal council Sopore Wednesday took first of its kind, “Ghar Ghar Dastak” an initiative to reach out to the families of low lying areas in order to educate the females about the use of masks amid the surge of Covid-19 in Kashmir.
The initiative will help the families, especially women folk, to overcome the problems due to covid 19 pandemic.
While initiating the process, President MC Sopore, Masrat Kar as per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, said that it is very important to educate women about their role as a mother, a protector of humanity.
“In our society, women do have a greater responsibility. They take care of their families, their loved one and the pandemic has made it harder for them to safeguard their families. Our women should know that the use of masks can protect our families, our children. Besides, it will stop further spread of the deadly virus,” Masrat added.
On the occasion, the teams including SDPO Sopore Furqan Qadri, SHO Sopore Khalid Fayaz, Nodal officer Sopore Dr Shahid, Sanitory inspector and members also distributed masks besides spreading awareness about the Covid-19.
Pertinent to mention that here at least 15 doctors and 25 paramedics at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sopore tested positive for COVID-19 during the last five days.
Besides, around 1000 people have tested positive for this virus in the town since last week.
