‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Celebrations

Police organizes one day seminar on ‘India’s response to Covid-19 pandemic’

As part of ongoing countrywide celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Kashmir Zone Police organized one day seminar on ‘India’s response to Covid-19 Pandemic’ at PCR Kashmir.

On the occasion, IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar was the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by DIG CKR Srinagar Shri Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar Shri Rakesh Balwal, SSP PCR Kashmir Shri Zubair Ahmed. Moreover, Prof. Abdul Manan, Dr. Khalid Parvaiz and SSP Sajad Khaliq acted as Jury members.

Students from Kashmir University and colleges viz, Amar Singh College, Maulana Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial College Bemina, Govt Women’s College Nawa Kadal, SP College Srinagar, Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar and Govt Women’s College M.A Road participated in the said seminar.

While speaking at the seminar, the participants commended the collaborative work done by the police, doctors, civil administration and the people in controlling the situation during the pandemic in entire country particularly in Kashmir. They also appreciated the sacrifices made by each member of the society to make the anti-covid measures successful. They also applauded the role of Health & Police departments who worked as frontline warriors.

IGP Kashmir in his address, appreciated the efforts of participating students in delivering their opinion on the topic and wished them best of luck for their future. He also advised the students to remain focused in their career and always take part in such events to showcase their talent.

Yarzuq Bilal of Amar Singh College clinched 1st Position, Tamanna Rehman of Govt Women’s College MA Road secured 2nd Position where as Albieza of SP College Srinagar secured 3rd position. The winners were awarded with a merit certificate, trophy and cash prize of ₹6000, ₹4000, and ₹3000/- respectively by the Chief Guest. Besides, all the participants were awarded with participation certificates while as the Jury members were also awarded with mementos by the Chief Guest.

The objective of organizing said event was to provide a platform to the youth to freely express their opinions and perspective. At the end, vote of thanks was presented by DIG CKR Srinagar and in his address he thanked all the organising members, jury members, participants for making this seminar successful. Later on, all the senior officers shared lunch with the young participants and accompanying faculty members.

Police facilitates PCPG meeting in Ganderbal

As a part of public outreach programme, Police in Ganderbal facilitated Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting at Police Station Kheerbawani.

The meeting was organised on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS and was chaired by SHO PS Kheerbawani Inspector Mudasir Zaroo and other Police officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting was attended by respectable citizens of village Shallabugh and other adjoining areas.

During the meeting, participants raised various issues including drug menace, thefts, black marketing and other several issues. The chairing officer assured the participants that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and the issues pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with concerned authorities for their early redressal. The chairing officer also sought their cooperation in maintaining peace & stability in the area.

The participants in the meeting assured their full co-operation to Police and Administration in tackling social evils and also appreciated the efforts of Police in facilitating community interaction meets where participants express their opinions freely.

Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals
Police arrests 02 persons and seized 03 vehicles in Budgam

Police in Budgam have arrested 02 persons and seized 03 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam.

Police party from police post Humhama at a checkpoint established at Laloo Sheesgari have arrested 02 persons and seized 03 vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JKO1M-4081, JK02AE-7764, JK04B-3681 involved in illegal extraction and transportation of clay. However, one unknown driver left his vehicle behind and fled from the spot. The arrested persons have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed wani son of Mohammad Yousuf wani resident of Bemina, Mohammad Rafiq Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Sebdan Budgam. Both the accused have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 83/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation have been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.

Police organises reception for 1st batch of Bharat Darshan Tour-2022 in Budgam

The first batch of the youth who were part of the Bharat Darshan Tour-2022 organized by the Police under Civic Action Programme have returned back safely. They were received by SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS and accorded a warm reception at DPL Budgam.

While interacting with the students, SSP Budgam congratulated them for availing the opportunity of visiting the southernmost part of the country. While sharing their experiences the students exhibited enthusiasm and seemed quite confident and happy.

It is pertinent to mention that the group was flagged off by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar-IPS on 17/03/2022. The group visited various heritage sites in New Delhi and Chennai including Marina Beach, Snake Park and UNESCO Heritage site in Mahabalipuram.

The students described the tour as a great success and asserted that the tour helped them to gain a new experience and also gave them vast exposure to become more confident and attain knowledge about the visiting places.

Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Kupwara; Contraband substance recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Kupwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Awoora led by SI Azhar Shakeel at a checkpoint established at Water Point Awoora intercepted 03 suspicious persons. They have been identified as Aahiq Ahmad Khan son of Ab Hamid Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat son of Ahmad Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmed Khan son of Gh Rasool Khan all residents of Mir Muqaam, Awoora. During checking, officers were able to recover 40grams, 20grams and 20grams respectively from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 14/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Trehgam and investigation has been initiated and more arrests are expected.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
