BARAMULLA, Aug 26: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 19 Infantry Division Ajay Chandpuria on Friday said that the technology coupled with increased alertness of troops has significantly reduced the Infiltration of terrorists from across the border to this side of Jammu and Kashmir.
While replying to a question by Kashmir Despatch Correspondent about the continuous infiltration attempts by Pakistan, the GoC said the infiltration has come down significantly which is also indicated by the peace in the hinterland.
The top army officer said with this alertness of troops Pakistan is now more desperate trying to push terrorists in any manner possible for them.
He said based on multiple inputs 100 to 120 militants are attempting to infiltrate, from 15 to 20 launchpads which are close to Line of Control (LOC).
Regarding the incidents of using drones to drop ammunition from across the border in north Kashmir, the top army officer said the kind of incidents that happened on the international border between India and Pakistan in Punjab and other places, are being watched carefully and the army is prepared to thwart any such attempt.
