Sopore, Sep 19: Bangladeshi fruit buyers on Monday said they have reached to the point where they will soon wind-up their business activities in Kashmir as they are facing huge losses due to the unnecessarily halt of fruit-laden trucks.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, a group of Bangladeshi fruit buyers said that it’s really unfortunate that since past 15 days we are facing huge losses due to unnecessarily halt of fruit-laden trucks and for which government isn’t doing anything to redress their grievances.
They said earlier fruit-laden trucks used to reach within 6-7 days to Bangladesh but now due to this unending halt it takes more than a weeks time and within 15 days of time trucks reach Bangladesh. “It not only affects business but we are facing huge losses,” he added.
Concerned about the losses, they said we are planning to wind-up business from Kashmir in view of the present circumstances.
Talking with Kashmir Despatch Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, President buyers of Asia’s second largest fruit Mandi Sopore said if Bangladeshi buyers will stop their business activities here around 50 business houses will be seriously affected.
He said it was because of Bangladesh that our fruit business had stabilized and rates were increased but unfortunately if they will stop to buy from us the apple industry which is already suffering will suffer furthermore.
The president said despite it being the only source of assistance for thousands of people in North Kashmir we are about to face a new crisis. He appealed to the admin to seriously redress this issue for the sake of saving the fruit industry and thousands of families associated with its trade.
