Bandipora, Oct. 22. J&K will have an evergreen revolution in the agriculture sector soon. The government is going to announce a new scheme in agriculture farming to shift the agriculture sector from organic to natural farming.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad Ganie, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir, said that advanced technology affects farming production in our valley, and farmers must shift from organic farming to natural farming to avoid pesticide side effects for both our next generation and our land.
He attended the programme on Krishi Vigyan Kendre (KVK) Bandipora where an omega awareness programme on sanitising farmers for the adoption of natural farming was organised by KVK Bandipora at Potushai Bandipora.
He also said that the green revolution which came in India in the 1960s when we adopted technologies in our farming had a worse effect on our land and health also. He also said that pesticides have bad effects on both land and the health of a farmer.
The programme was attended by hundreds of unemployed youths, especially girls from tribal and local areas of the Bandipora district.
Additional District Development Kashmir (ADDC) Afsar Ali Khan and other officers from the civil administration were also present on the occasion.
The aim of the programme is to give farmers and unemployed youths awareness to establish their units and come into the agriculture sector to establish their units in farming as we in the valley have touched the highest unemployment rate.
