SRINAGAR, Dec 19: Following the protest of Aganwari workers in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday against the newly approved Human Resource (HR) policy, the social welfare department has said that the policy cannot be revoked.
While talking to the local news agency, the protestors said that the policy framed by the government is not acceptable to them and should be revoked immediately.
“If the government is talking about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, is this how the commitment should look like,” the protestors said further.
The protestors reiterated that they will continue their protest till the HR policy is revoked. “We welcome the retirement policy but how about the afterward,” they asked.
Pertinently, the government approved the proposal of a comprehensive Human Resource Policy in November this year which will govern the engagement, leaves, promotion, and other aspects of Aganwari workers.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Rubina Kousar, mission director of ICDS, the department of social welfare, said, the policy cannot be revoked, despite the protests.
“The department has streamlined the rules after fifty years and they have been approved by all the administrative authorities,” Mrs. Kouser said.
Mrs. Kousar further said that those privileges cannot be accorded to Aganwari workers in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir which are not available on the national level, therefore, “the demands are not genuine.”
