A Startup Bootcamp concludes at KU

NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre organised a 3-Day Workshop on Idea to Pitch: A Startup Bootcamp.

Srinagar, Dec 30: In a dynamic convergence of innovation and entrepreneurial zeal, the University of Kashmir’s NewGen IEDC Business Innovation and Incubation Centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Thapar Institute of Technology Patiala, concluded an invigorating 3-day workshop on “Idea to Pitch: A Startup Bootcamp” from 27-29 December 2023. The workshop was a robust source of learning for over sixty early-stage startups and aspiring entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds across various parts of the valley and other states of the country.

The workshop was conducted on the instructions of KU Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan who said that the incubators play a pivotal role in nurturing big ventures and such workshops actively engage the participants in hands-on activities, mentorship sessions, and a captivating pitch competition which infuses the event a dynamic spirit of innovation.

Led by dynamic resource persons, the workshop was a transformative journey through the intricacies of idea generation, design thinking, business model canvas, and pitch deck preparation. Throughout the event, the budding startups interacted with the distinguished startup experts and entrepreneurs like Dr. Karminderjit Ghuman and Dr. Mandeep Singh from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala who mentored and guided them with valuable suggestions and guidance on development of their startups.

During the valedictory function Prof. Irshad Ahmad Nawchoo, Dean Research at the University of Kashmir, as Chief Guest, applauded NewGen IEDC and thanked all the collaborators. He emphasised the untapped potential of the region’s medicinal plants, envisioning a significant industry that could become a source of livelihood for thousands.

Dr. Sartaj Hussain, Coordinator of NewGen IEDC, in his concluding remarks presented the workshop’s outcomes. Dr. Hussain emphasized the need for the right ambiance, networking opportunities, and mentoring support to foster the next generation of successful entrepreneurs.

Dr. Parvez Ahmad Shah, the Nodal Officer of the NewGen Centre conducted the proceedings of the workshop.

While concluding, NewGen IEDC incubation centre extended heartfelt appreciation to all collaborators, participants, speakers, mentors, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the “Idea to Pitch: A Startup Bootcamp.” The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks.
