Srinagar, Oct 28 : In a remarkable initiative promoting transparency and ethical governance, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu & Kashmir kicked off its extensive outreach program starting October 28, 2024, in alignment with the National Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024. The campaign, themed “Culture of Integrity for the Nation’s Prosperity,” aims to combat corruption and foster a culture of integrity throughout the Union Territory.
The opening event was marked by two engaging sessions in Srinagar, interconnected virtually to facilitate participation from all districts, including Jammu. The morning session at the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA) brought together representatives from various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), development authorities, and the Irrigation & Flood Control Department, alongside the general public, in a powerful demonstration of community involvement.
Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Shri Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS, delivered an inspiring inaugural address, emphasizing the crucial role of public engagement in promoting a transparent governance framework. The highlight of the event was the launch of a documentary showcasing the ACB’s initiatives and efforts toward accountability, supported by impactful messages from prominent leaders, including Honorable LG Shri Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo.
Participants engaged in an interactive session using a mobile app, where insightful feedback was collected to identify challenges in service delivery by ULBs, ensuring that voices from over 1,000 attendees were heard regarding public services. The distinguished speakers, including Justice Shri Tariq Nakashbandi and former Chief Town Planner Shri Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized the need for interdepartmental collaboration to effectively tackle corruption.
The afternoon session continued to foster engagement among ULB employees across various connected venues, utilizing innovative tools like the “Kahoot App” to assess awareness levels and collect suggestions for enhancing anti-corruption efforts.
Ending on a high note, attendees participated in a pledge ceremony, solemnly committing to combat corruption and uphold ethical standards in public service. Key figures, including Sh. Sandeep Wazir- AIG-IPS, encouraged ongoing support for the Vigilance Awareness Week’s initiatives, reinforcing the importance of integrity in governance.
Dr. Mudasir Tramboo, DySP of the ACB, adeptly presided over the day’s discussions, showcasing a collective commitment by public servants and community members to build a culture of integrity across Jammu & Kashmir.
