NEW DELHI, July 28: Renowned actor and theatre personality Shri Adil Hussain delivered a deeply inspiring keynote address at the 20th edition of the Re-imagining Governance: Discourse for Excellence (RGDE) series, held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS) in New Delhi. The event, organized by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, was conducted in hybrid mode with participants from across the country.
Speaking on the theme “Speaking to be Understood: From Informing to Connecting,” Hussain captivated the audience with his rich insights drawn from Indian and international cinema, personal experiences, theatrical reflections, and references to Indian scriptures. His address explored the subtle but powerful art of meaningful communication in public life, emphasizing its crucial role in governance.
Hussain stated that “communication is an extension of what one feels,” stressing the importance of emotional awareness and clarity of intent in authentic engagement. He highlighted the significance of empathy in public service, remarking that “everyone has a backstory” and encouraging public servants to recognize the human element behind every interaction.
He further noted that “gratitude defines a person,” and reiterated the importance of listening with understanding and respect to foster better governance outcomes. His thought-provoking address left a lasting impact on attendees from various public sectors.
The event was chaired by Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, and presided over by Shri Kumar Rohit, Director of PDUNASS. The session was moderated by Shri Uttam Prakash, Regional PF Commissioner-I, and Smt. Udita Choudhary, Retired Additional Central PF Commissioner.
The RGDE series, launched on Good Governance Day, 25th December 2023, has emerged as a dynamic platform for cross-sectoral learning within the public administration domain. It brings together influential voices from governance, academia, civil society, and the arts to promote excellence in public service and administrative reforms.
