BARAMULLA, June 05: Abrar Rashid, son of the jailed leader Er Rashid, has clarified that the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) will maintain its independence and not align with either the NDA or the India Bloc. Despite this stance, he emphasized that no definitive statements can be made until his father is released from jail.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Abrar Rashid reiterated the AIP’s commitment to independence. He noted that further details about the party’s decisions would be more accurately provided once Er Rashid is released.
Abrar categorically denied receiving any communication from any political groups. He mentioned that any potential discussions involving Er Rashid and the party are unknown to him, emphasizing that as far as he is aware, no such communication has occurred.
Addressing allegations of Er Rashid receiving support from the Centre, Abrar highlighted that the AIP contested the Lok Sabha elections independently, a fact evident on the ground. He underscored that the party relied solely on the people’s support and did not align with any political party or agency.
He further elaborated that the AIP’s election campaign was driven by grassroots support, demonstrating the people’s unconditional backing. Abrar stressed that his father ran as an independent candidate, supported by the people of Kashmir who played a crucial role in his victory.
Abrar expressed his gratitude to the supporters, affirming that the party’s doors remain open for them. He emphasized that it is now their turn to contribute to the community, acknowledging the unwavering love and support shown for his father.
