Airline companies refuse to refund whole amount to NEET aspirants from Kashmir who had booked air tickets in advance

Date:

Srinagar, Apr 26, : Though to accommodate all the 9,250 aspirants from the Kashmir Valley for this year’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams, the National Testing Agency (NTA) allotted four additional centres in the region, yet the aspirants are alleging that they suffered monetary losses as the airline companies deducted a large chunk of amount while cancelling their tickets.

A large number of students who were supposed to appear in the examination at different centres including Delhi, Utrakhand, Chandigarh, Ajmeer on May 5 had booked air tickets in advance for them and their relatives supposed to accompany them. “We cancelled the tickets after examination centres were established in Valley but to our shock, the airlines companies especially Air Asia and Indigo deducted Rs 3000 each from us. Hundreds of students had booked tickets in advance and thus suffered monetary losses,” said an aspirant Bilal Ahmed to news agency CNS.

Another student blamed National Testing Agency (NTA) and the government for the mess. “We appeal authorities to impress upon the airline companies to refund whole amount to students,” he said.

The NEET test is scheduled to be held on May 5 from 2 to 5 pm. NTA had already set up NEET exam centres in the Valley for 5,750 aspirants while the remaining 3,500 aspirants will appear in the examination at Kashmir University, Gandhi Memorial College, Green Valley School and Kashmir Harvard School.
