Srinagar, June 23: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday strongly condemned the callous attack on a shopkeeper who was shot dead by unknown gunmen at Haba Kadal-Srinagar.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, Bukhari termed the incident as highly reprehensible and unfortunate while stressing that violence will yield nothing but only further death and destruction.
“Just a day after the killing of a policeman in Nowgam, a youth, 25 years of age who was a shopkeeper by profession, had to lose his life to this absurd unceasing cycle of violence. It’s not the cold-blooded murder of a lone individual but the whole family who remained dependent on him,” he said.
Bukhari said that the intensity of such heinous acts is engulfing everyone and there exists a sense of fear and anxiety among the people.
“The government must ensure that such acts are efficiently stalled in the future and a sense of security must prevail. The elements inimical to peace should be brought to justice for their dastardly acts,” he demanded.
He further prayed for the departed soul and expressed profound solidarity with the bereaved family.
