Amid internet gag, MFC only hope for journalist fraternity in Kashmir

All rooms get uninterrupted internet facility, new heating gadgets bring smiles on faces of scribes


Srinagar, Dec 13 : The employees of the Information Department under the guidance and direction of Director of Information Department Dr. Sehrish Asghar are working round the clock to facilitate the journalists at Media Facilitation Centre (MFC) Srinagar.

 According to wire service— with internet remaining suspended in the valley post abrogation of Article 370, the internet facility for media fraternity was set up at Sarovar Portico Hotel at Dalgate where 10 computers were put forth for the work of journalists in the month of August.

The Media Facilitation Centre was, however, shifted to Director of Information Office Srinagar, where employees of the department are doing all they can make sure that journalists don’t suffer in one way or the other.

But with weather in the valley changing its mood, the temperature falling down, the journalists demanded heating arrangements as it was getting very difficult to work in such a harsh conditions. In one of rooms meant for journalists, the internet would often go off as there was no back-up facility.

The employees of the department under the direction of director information arranged heating blowers and  modern heating gadgets for the scribes.

Meanwhile, journalist fraternity has hailed the efforts of Director of Information Dr. Sehrish Asghar in addressing the concerns of journalists. “We are very thankful to the information department which is making sure that the journalists don’t suffer in harsh winter conditions.

The department provided us heating arrangement, which was need of an hour and above all we are enjoying the uninterrupted internet in the room where the electricity would play hide and seek,” said a scribe. (KNO)
