48,000 students appear in exams, no complaint received from anywhere, say officials

Srinagar, Oct 30 : The class 12th examination in Kashmir witnessed over 99 percent attendance of students in Kashmir on Wednesday.
An official told wire service, that the students appeared in exams in all the exam centres while as there were no complaints against the question paper set by JK Board of School Education (BOSE) and other arrangements put in place in the examination centres.
As many as 48000 students were supposed to appear in the said examination and BOSE had set up 433 examination centres across Kashmir.
The examination centres were set up in government as well as private schools besides some Army schools and government degree colleges as well.
The students appearing in exams complained of non-availability of transport services on road due to which they had to grapple hard to reach to their examination centres.
“Our exam was supposed to start at 12:30 pm but we left our homes at 9 am in morning because we had no public transport available in our area,” a group of students told.
They said the students had to avail private transport to reach their exam centres. “We had to change many vehicles while reaching to our exam centres,” the students said.
Ahead of examination, the divisional administration had directed the district administration to keep transport facility available for the students but the students said the vehicles were plying on selected routes due to which most of the students had to use private transport.
“The DCs had kept buses available on few streets but students coming from far off villages had no facility available to reach to their exams,” the students told.
Today also, the students mostly girls were accompanied by parents who used their private vehicles to reach the exam centres. The parents were seen waiting for their kids to finish the exams and were taken back to their homes in the private cars.
“We had no option than to wait outside exam halls for our kids because public transport is not plying on roads and the situation in valley is chaotic as well,” a parent who was seen waiting outside one of the exam centres set up in Srinagar school, said. (KNO)
