Foil Abduction Plot as Chocolates Turn Bitter!

ANANTNAG, June 27: Locals of Arwani area foiled an abduction attempt when a non-local tried to kidnap two young cousins from Arwani area of Anantnag district while offering them chocolates here today.
The eight-years old duo were coming back from SMI school Arwani which is half a kilometer from their home in Rakh Moman and suddenly a vehicle without registration number stopped their way and offered a chocolate; an excuse for getting them into the three-wheeler vehicle.
“When I noticed a non-local inside a vehicle I was very nervous and refused to get into the vehicle,” Taufeeq Hussain Wani, one of the victims told Kashmir Despatch. Wani added that later he took a U-turn and they (duo) ran towards nearby shops from where people chased the vehicle and captured it.
Mohammad Hussain Wani Taufeeq’s father while talking to Kashmir Despatch said that he dropped the children in a school in the morning to deposit their fee and went to his dental clinic where he works.
He further said that the school is half a kilometer from his village and there are dense trees were the attempt to abduct happened. “I am thankful of Bijbihara Police that they acted swiftly as we called them. It took the police less than 10 minutes to reach the spot,” Hussain told Kashmir Despatch.
Meanwhile a police official from Police station Bijbihara said, they have started an investigation in the matter. He said that the accused is telling his name as Lukman from Assam but the investigation of the matter is still going on, we cannot confirm the names yet.
