Srinagar, Mar 22: Anganwari workers staged a protest on Saturday in Srinagar, demanding an immediate increase in their honorarium. Scores of workers gathered at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, raising slogans to press for their long-pending demands.
The agitating workers expressed frustration over the repeated neglect of their pleas. They lamented that despite their tireless efforts and dedication, their demands have not been addressed. “We have been suffering for years, receiving a meager amount despite serving with full dedication,” one of the protesting workers said.
The workers accused lawmakers of ignoring their plight and failing to raise their concerns in the legislative assembly. They warned that if their demands were not fulfilled, they would take to the streets daily, along with their families, to intensify their agitation.
The protesting workers urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Health Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene and address their grievances without further delay.
