SRINAGAR, Mar 04: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Kashmir valley on March 7, the expectations among the people are soaring high with a lot of hope placed on him.

Kashmir Despatch spoke with various sections of people across the Kashmir valley to gauge the excitement surrounding the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time, people are not only expecting major announcements, but they are also excited to catch a glimpse of the PM, who is visiting after four years since the abrogation of Article 370.

Sadiq, an elderly resident of north Kashmir, mentioned in a conversation with Kashmir Despatch that it is evident that the PM has done a lot for the Union Territory in terms of development. Sadiq noted that the work seen in the past four years, from roads to bridges, is truly commendable. However, with the upcoming visit to Kashmir, they expect something for the youth and their bright future.

Sadiq further added that hope is high and there are already many expectations generated with this visit, which will also touch the hearts of the younger generation.

Sakeena, a social activist, told Kashmir Despatch that PM Modi has already proven his commitment through the creation of a peaceful environment, which everyone is witnessing in the state. With this upcoming visit, the enthusiasm is even higher as everyone is eagerly waiting for some announcements that will further strengthen their love for the PM.

A section of farmers expressed their excitement about this visit and expressed hope for announcements regarding the development of the horticulture industry. They emphasized that despite the important role played by horticulture in the survival of thousands of families in Kashmir, they are hopeful for some announcements with the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit.

Some political leaders, in their response to PM Modi’s visit to Kashmir, expressed their excitement. They acknowledged the enthusiasm surrounding this rally in Kashmir. However, they also expressed expectations for larger project announcements and most importantly, initiatives for the employed youth.

A group of students said that it is great to see the development, but it would always be better to witness the youth securing job placements after completing their degrees. Hence, we have high expectations for the Prime Minister’s visit to Kashmir, hoping that something beneficial will be announced for us.

They acknowledged that Prime Minister Modi has indeed performed exceptionally well in the past four years for the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This is evident when we consider the advancements in development and the establishment of a peaceful environment. Businesses have not been hampered, and there have been no instances of shutdowns or innocent civilians being killed. However, now it is time for him to prioritize the concerns of the youth and announce opportunities for employment.

While a section of the youth appreciates Modi’s efforts and considers it a positive change for Kashmir, there will be true moments of happiness when we receive news about job opportunities and prospects for the unemployed youth.
