Demand regularization, release of pending wages
JAMMU, Oct 1: Extending support to the ongoing strike of PDD daily wagers, Apni Party leaders today joined a demonstration here at Dogra Chowk and demanded regularization of the daily wagers and casual workers in the department.
Led by Apni Party and Trade Union leader Ajaz Kazmi, the leaders and activists of the Party protested in support of PDD daily wagers who were demanding their long pending demands.
The PDD workers have been demanding their regularization and release of pending wages. Speaking on the occasion, Ajaz Kazmi said that Apni Party will leave no stone unturned to raise the voice of the daily wagers and casual workers.
“These people run the PDD department on ground even during COVID pandemic. The Govt should regularize them and give them all the benefits that are being enjoyed by the permanent employees,” said Kazmi.
Kazmi lauded the role of daily wagers in providing essential services to the people of Jammu at the times of pandemic putting their own lives at risk.
“The Govt should recognize their services and release all the pending wages. Their families are facing starvation-like situation due to non-release of their wages since months,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kazmi said that the Govt should implement a minimum wage act in J&K in the interest of the workers in various Govt Depts.
“If they do work equal to the permanent employees, why should they not be given protection in wages with the implementation of minimum wages in J&K like the rest of the country,” he said.
Prominent among those who joined protest with PDD daily wagers included Abhay Bakaya, Raj Kumar Lalotra, Janmeet Singh Bali, Vaibhav Matoo, Joginder Singh, Ghulam Mohammed Shah, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan and others.
