Apni Party urges Govt to review decision on SHG scheme of engineers
JAMMU, Oct 07: Apni Party has appealed to the Govt to review its decision on Self Help Groups (SHG) in Jammu and Kashmir which had provided opportunity to unemployed engineers to earn their livelihood.
“It was the Govt’s responsibility to provide employment opportunities to the educated youth. When the employment is not enough in the Govt sector why has the Govt abolished Self Help Group scheme from J&K,” said Apni Party General Secretary Vijay Bakaya.
On this occasion, Bakaya welcomed the newcomers into the party. The Ex-MLC and Apni Party General Secretary Vijay Bakaya expressed over scrapping of the scheme and said that the Govt should review its decision in the interest of thousands of engineers, their families and people associated with the groups.
Vijay Bakaya referred to the horticulture, sheep husbandry and agriculture sectors to encourage youth to become self-sufficient as an alternative to Govt jobs.
The Govt abolished the scheme which had given 30 % share in the Govt projects to the Self Help Groups consisting of qualified engineers and this scheme should be revived again, said Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh.
Singh said that abolishing a successful scheme which provided opportunity to the educated youth to employ others and be part of the developmental works was a positive sign of a Govt towards encouraging self-employment.
“The SHG scheme had become a symbol of attraction for the educated youth towards self-employment should be encouraged and keeping in view positive side of the scheme, it should be revived by the Govt,” said Manjit Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Apni Party leader Abhay Bakaya said that the youth are the worst sufferers in the Union Territory because of lack of employment opportunities. “These self employment opportunities should be increased,” Abhay added.
Abhay said that the process of granting loans to the unemployed youth for starting new business should be made easy and hurdles be removed to make J&K youth self-sufficient.
Suhail Khajuria, Parvin Bharadwaj, Rohit Chohan, Akshat Sharma, Rajat Singh, Inderdeep Singh, Harvinder Singh were among those prominent who joined the Party.
