Budgam, May 06 : The electoral process in the regions of 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota has reached a crucial phase as appeals are now invited regarding the draft Electoral Rolls published on April 8, 2025, by the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). This step follows a comprehensive house-to-house field survey conducted by 323 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in these two Assembly Constituencies.
In a proactive measure, all political parties involved appointed 279 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to verify the accuracy of the draft electoral rolls, ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
After addressing all claims and objections raised during this period, the final electoral rolls were published by the EROs on May 5, 2025. A copy of the finalized rolls has been made available to all political parties.
In accordance with Section 24 (a) of the Representation of People Act 1950, individuals may now file an appeal against the decisions made by the concerned ERO to the respective District Magistrate.
Moreover, if individuals are not satisfied with the District Magistrate’s decision, they have the option to escalate the matter by filing an appeal with the Chief Electoral Officer of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
