Army Major Dies Fortnight After Sustaining Injures In Misfire At Camp In Shopian

Srinagar : An army Major died on Saturday, a fortnight after he was injured due to “misfire” from own rifle in a camp in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police official said that based on statement by army, Major Mayank Vishnoi of 44 RR Camp was injured due to miss fire from his own service rifle on August 27. He was given first aid at MI room and shifted to 92 base Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment where from he was shifted to Command Hospital Udhampur for further treatment, the official said.

“Reportedly the Major has expired today in the Hospital at Udhampur,” the official said. The police have sought a postmortem report, the official added. (GNS)
