Army organises cricket tournament to groom Gurez youth`s future

Bandipora Aug 20: Indian Army has started one of biggest Cricket Tournament KishanGanga Trophy first time in history of Tulail, Gurez Valley under continuation of events to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The aim of the tournament is to positively engage youth of the Valley together in a ground for the arena of Sports.

Total of 22 Teams from all villages of Tulail, Gurez valley have registered for tournament which is going to be played for duration of 15 days at Badogam (Niru) Sports Ground.

Teams have been divided in two pools for demonstrating the Sporting Spirit.

On first day the high energy event witnessed teams from all across the valley such as Barnoi, Tulail, Gujran and other remote villages apart from J&K Police and Army team.

Cricket being the most popular game in the valley, the tournament is aimed at positively engaging the youth of the valley, providing the budding sportsmen a platform to showcase their skills and to strengthen the bond between the locals and Army in Gurez.

A packed stadium on the first day is a clear indicator of the success of the event.
