Army ready to assist and groom youngsters in sports : GOC Kilo Force

Sopore : General officer commanding Kilo Force (GOC) SS Slaria on Saturday said that the army will provide every possible support to the youth of Kashmir in channelizing their energies towards the sports.

As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, GOC Kilo Force said that the registered sports clubs, athletic groups should come forward and support channelizing the energies of youth in sports activities.

The top army officer said that the three day sports mega event in Sopore outskirts witnessed huge participation of youngsters across north Kashmir.

He said the aim of the event was to boost sports culture in the region and revitalize rural games.

The Chief guest also applauded the impeccable initiative of local sports bodies and AWAM for their unconditional support to make the pioneering effort a thumping success.

The event was witnessed by various Military and Civil dignitaries including Shri Udaya Bhaskar Billa, DIG North Kashmir, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, DC Baramulla, Shri Shabir Nawab SSP, Sopore and Sports personalities Mr Arif Khan (Skier, Winter Olympics), Miss Iqra Rasool (Cricketer), Mr Manan Wani (Cyclist), Miss Tajamul Islam (Kick boxing), Miss Raunak Riyaz (Martial Artist), and other eminent locals.
