Handwara : General-Officer-Commanding (GOC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey Thursday said that the number of active militants in the Union Territory has come down to 200 and efforts are on to bring down the number.
Taking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in North Kashmir’s Handwara as per Kashmir Despatch , the Corps commander said that not more 200 militants are active in the valley.
“Efforts are on to bring down the number of active militants and by the end of the year there will be a visible change in that. Our motive is to end (militancy) in the Kashmir Valley so as to create a militancy free environment for the common people who want to live peacefully,” the army official said while speaking on the occasion.
