Srinagar, Nov 07: The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kishtwar and Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Shagun Parihar, stated that Article 370 has consistently promoted terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, and the final nail in its coffin has been driven by the BJP; there is no question of reinstating it.
In an exclusive interview with Kashmir Despatch, the MLA from Kishtwar said that everything happening in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is due to the political gimmicks played by the National Conference.
She pointed out that earlier, on the first day of the assembly, when PDP leader Waheed Para brought forth a so-called resolution, the NC had labeled it a political tactic aimed at performing for the cameras. She questioned why they (NC) are now engaging in the same tactics and not discussing the pressing issues of Jammu and Kashmir while they are in government.
Shagun expressed her concerns about why the NC is not addressing peripheral issues affecting Kashmir, stating that our people walk for 5-6 hours due to a lack of roads, electricity, and water. In many areas, there is no mobile network. She questioned why they want to deceive people with the issue of Article 370 instead of addressing the employment challenges faced by the youth in Kashmir.
She leveled serious allegations against the NC, stating that the National Conference wants to use Article 370 to engage in dirty politics. In the past, we witnessed bloodbaths and the killing of innocent civilians, which affected businesses. However, it was the Modi-led government that created a peaceful Kashmir where everyone is now happy, earning, and living in a peaceful environment.
In response to the jailed separatist leader Yaseen Malik’s wife, who appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak about her husband in Parliament, Shagun Parihar stated that Yaseen Malik was an anti-national and will remain so.
She added that Yaseen Malik represents the broader impact on Kashmir, where thousands of civilians have been killed.
Shagun stated that now his wife has approached Rahul Gandhi, and it is common for those who are hell-bent on affecting Kashmir and promoting terrorism to reach out to such leaders.
