Baramulla, February 20, 2025: In a bold move to ensure road safety and discipline, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramulla launched an intensive traffic enforcement campaign across the district over the past two days, targeting key hotspots, including petrol pumps. The drive resulted in fines totaling ₹38,000 and the seizure of 13 vehicles with expired fitness certificates and permits.
The operation zeroed in on serious traffic violations, including overspeeding, reckless driving, improper documentation, vehicle overloading, non-compliance with seat belt rules, and failure to wear helmets. Vehicles lacking Speed Limiting Devices (SLDs) were also penalized as part of the crackdown.
ARTO Baramulla, Muazzam Ali, emphasized that the enforcement drive reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to curbing traffic violations and ensuring the safety of all road users. “These stringent checks are not just about penalties but about fostering a culture of responsibility and discipline among drivers. We will continue to take strict action against violators to make our roads safer,” he stated.
The authorities have issued a stern reminder to the public to adhere to traffic regulations and cooperate with enforcement teams. “Road safety is a shared responsibility. By following the rules, we can prevent accidents and save lives,” the ARTO added.
