Arvind Kejriwal can campaign but people will remember liquor scam: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal can campaign for the Lok Sabha elections after being released on bail, but people will remember the liquor scam.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today TV, Amit Shah pointed out that Kejriwal is out on an interim bail and will have to surrender after June 1.

“It is a temporary bail, and he has to surrender after June 1. He can campaign for the elections, but wherever he campaigns, people will only remember the liquor scam,” Amit Shah said.

Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening, after the Supreme Court granted him an interim bail to campaign for the ongoing elections.

On being asked about the Sandeshkhali incident, Shah said, “Women were being tortured on the basis of religion for vote bank politics for years, but West Bengal’s chief minister, who is a woman herself, didn’t take any steps to stop it.”

Responding to Trinamool Congress’s allegations that rape accusations in Sandeshkhali were concocted, he said, “The TMC has a pattern. First they commit a crime and then they commit more crimes to prove the first one wrong. Are the High Court and the women lying? Is the Central Bureau of Investigation probe wrong?”
