Aspirants Urge J&K Bank To Postpone Examination For Various Posts Amid Prevailing Situation

Srinagar, Feb 18 : The aspirants appearing in the examination for various posts in Jammu and Kashmir Bank have appealed the concerned authorities to postpone the examinations scheduled later this week.

A number of callers told news agency that many aspirants are held up in various states due to the prevailing situation.

“We had planned to appear in examination by reaching in the nick of time but given the situation which has emerged (in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack), it seems that there is likelihood that it would not be possible for now,” a number of students, presently in New Delhi, told news agency over phone.

“We urge authorities to postpone the examination by a reasonable time so as to allow us to appear in the examination which we are sure to miss if the examinations are held as per the already announced schedule in wake of the prevailing situation,” they said.

One of the aspirants called news agency over phone from Bangalore and urged the bank authorities to postpone the examinations.

“I’m not sure whether I will reach the examination venue in Srinagar given that the apprehensions of attacks here (Bangalore). Honestly, we fear venturing outside our rented accommodation and the bank should take into consideration the situation which is beyond our control,” he said.

A number of callers from Jammu said that many aspirants are held up in Jammu amid internet blockade and that they are unsure whether they can reach the Valley in due course of time to write the examination.

“We don’t know whether even highway is open or whether we can find any vehicle to Kashmir. We request the bank authorities to defer the examination for now and announce a date later when situation normalizes,” they added. Some callers cited inclement weather conditions and urged the authorities to defer the examination.

“There is inclement weather forecast for next few days and authorities should take that into consideration also,” Jameel Ahmad, who is presently in Jammu and is scheduled to appear for banking associate examination at Baramulla, said.

A number of callers from south Kashmir districts of Shopian, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Pulwama also called GNS and urged postponement of examination amid internet blockade and “tense situation.”

“Instead of last-minute rush, the authorities should postpone the examination which should be held without any fear or distractions,” they said. (GNS)
